About the event
The NAACP Murfreesboro Branch is honored to host the 2026 Freedom Fund Gala on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the MTSU Student Union Ballroom. This year’s theme, “Rooted in Resilience: Blooming Beyond Barriers,” reflects a defining moment that calls us to stand firm in courage, lead with purpose, and rise above the barriers that continue to shape inequality in our community.
In alignment with this theme, we are seeking nominations for deserving individuals and organizations that embody resilience in action and have boldly advanced justice, equity, civil rights, and community empowerment throughout Rutherford County.
We invite you to SUBMIT NOMINATIONS in the following categories (multiple nominations are welcome):
Freedom Fund Woman of the Year and Freedom Fund Man of the Year
Acknowledging a Rutherford County humanitarian whose volunteerism and civic engagement foster meaningful change, advancing political, educational, social, or economic equality.
Freedom Fund Youth of the Year
Honoring a young leader of Rutherford County, ages 14-22, whose impactful contributions have strengthened the community while upholding the social justice principles of the NAACP.
Freedom Fund Community Organization of the Year
Celebrating a community, civic, or faith-based organization committed to advancing economic growth, educational equality, and/or social justice, creating a positive impact in the Rutherford County community.
Freedom Fund Greek Organization of the Year
Honoring a Rutherford County fraternity or sorority that has demonstrated outstanding leadership, community service, and a commitment to social justice in alignment with NAACP values.
The submission deadline is May 31, 2026.
